About The St. George

The St. George is a community of more than 200 residents and commercial businesses. There are 117 residential units on floors three through twenty-five. Commercial space occupies the second floor with the commercial lobby on the ground floor. The third floor has recreational facilities including a pool, sauna, exercise room, large outdoor patio, and the guest suite. The underground garage has four floors of parking, with the first floor (B1) for the commercial offices and public parking, while floors B2 -B4 are reserved for the residential owners.

Welcome to The St. George! I am proud to be part of a bilingual community that continues the heritage of the Byward Market and Lowertown. It is important that we are a vibrant community that works with our neighbours to protect and improve the well-being of our neighbourhood. We are in the heart of the city – join us!

Update on the Prince Development at 201 Rideau 

Prince requested, and we granted, an extension of the crane and hoarding licenses to July 31, 2023, that is, for 4 more months. The corporation has received compensation for this extension. Prince assures us that by then the crane will have been dismantled and the hoarding removed from our patios. 

New Resident’s Handbook July 22, 2022

The Board has issued a revised and up-dated Resident’s Handbook, which replaces the Resident’s Manual that was last revised in 2016.

Volunteers Needed

The Condo Board is looking for volunteers to help with the social and welcoming committees, the bike rooms and minor maintenance.

Annual General Meeting 2022

The Annual General Meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 19. This will be a virtual meeting. Documents, including the Agenda, Minutes and Auditor’s report and other information will be available for registered users in the “Documents” section later this summer.

June 16 2022 – Suspension of remaining Covid-related health measures

The Board has suspended the requirements relating to wearing of mask and reservations for the pool and exercise room.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Are pets allowed in the building?

A: Pets have always been part of the St George community, but are limited to no more than two small dogs, household cats, or other small animals. Pet owners must keep their animals on a leash in the common areas and are expected to follow the basic rules of responsible pet ownership.

Q: Can I smoke in the building?

A: Residents and their guests may smoke or vape in their unit and on their balconies. Smoking or vaping anywhere else in the building, except on the third-floor outdoor patio, is forbidden.

Q: When are the pool and exercise room open?

A: The recreation facilities, including the pool, saunas, exercise room and outdoor patio are located on the 3rd floor and are accessed with the front entrance key (“F”). This area is open from 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. A separate key (“E”), which can be obtained from the Security Office, is required to enter the exercise room.

Q: Where is the visitors’ parking?

A: There are six parking spaces available in the garage for short term parking by visitors, two each on levels B2A, B3A and B4A. These spaces cannot be reserved in advance, but should be arranged with the Security Office as your visitor arrives. If necessary, the guard will open the garage doors to allow the visitor to enter.

Q: Where can I keep my bicycle?

A: Two storage rooms for bicycles are available in the parking garage: one on level B2A, for those using their bicycles on a year-round or regular basis; and one on level B4A for all others. All bicycles must be registered with the Security Office and properly identified.

Bicycles must not be brought through the building or into the elevators or stored on balconies or in parking stalls.

Q: Can I charge my electric vehicle on the property?

A: Owners may install a Level 1 electric vehicle charging station (limited to a standard 120V outlet) at their parking space. Installation costs are the responsibility of the owner, who also will be will be assessed a flat monthly fee for the electricity consumed. Prior approval of the Board is required and owners should contact the Property Manager for more information.

Q: How do I reserve the service elevator?

A: Use of the service elevator for moves or by contractors must be arranged with the Security Office a minimum of three business days in advance. A refundable deposit to cover possible damage is required. Major moves and deliveries are only permitted Monday to Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Moving small items or deliveries that require the service elevator for a brief period are permitted any day from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., subject to availability of the service elevator. A reservation agreement and deposit are not needed; however, advance notification is required.

Q: How do I reserve the guest suite?

A: The guest suite is located on the 3rd floor. Reservations can be made at the Security Office and require at least 48 hours’ notice. The suite has one double bed, a bathroom, a small fridge and television. Towels and sheets are provided. It is non-smoking and pets are not allowed.

Q: Do I own my storage locker?

A: Unlike the parking spaces, storage lockers do not belong to individual units, but are assigned for the exclusive use of owners by the Board. The main storage area is on the 3rd floor and is accessed by the front entrance key (“F”). Storage rooms on residential floors and in the garage have their own keys.

Q: Who should I contact to complain about noise or other disturbances outside the building?

A: A. If a disturbance is coming from within the building, discuss it with your neighbour or contact the Security Office. For noise complaints outside the building, as well as other by-law enforcement issues such as snow removal or parking, call 311 or use the City of Ottawa’s 3-1-1 website: City of Ottawa.
